The Greater Pinebelt Community Foundation prides itself on giving back to the community.

The foundation partners with Pinebelt businesses providing philanthropic gifts to build better communities.

Caroline Nurkin, office manager of the Greater Pinebelt Foundation, said the people make her job so rewarding.


“Just to see the smiles on the faces of kids who somebody is taking an interest in them and spending time with them, its just so enlightening.

Among helping various businesses in the area, the organization also offers scholarships to students.

Javarious Williams, recipient of the Kappa Alpha Psi Foundation scholarship and now freshman at the University of Southern Mississippi, said it scholarship helped him in many ways.

“It helped me with books and things of that nature, as far as meeting new people, it helped me meet new people,” Williams said. ” As far as people, it allowed me to meet people in the fraternity and people that I can just talk to.”

Meanwhile, Nurkin also said the foundation works with anyone who aims to make a difference in the community.

” The people we work with everyday are just out here because they want to make a difference in their community or in their church.”
